Extensive Damages After the Massive Earthquake(Left). Pakistan and India Suffers(above).

On the 8th of october 2005, at 08:50:38, a devastating earthquake of magnitude 7.6 struck Pakistan-administered, Indian-administered Kashmir and its other neighbours, such as Islamabad and Afghanistan. The earthquake centered in Azad Kashmir and in North West frontier province near the city of Muzaffarabad. As Kashmir lies in the area of collision between the Eurasian and Indian tectonic plates, the earthquake and the Himalayan mountain range are all caused by the collision of the two plates. The plates moves mainly because of the convection current beneath the crust of Earth, hence the Eurasian and Indian plates would collide, causing an earthquake.
Many people around Afghanistan were affected mentally and physically, especially Pakistan-administered Kashmir. The death toll there exceeds 40,000 injured with about 70,000 people injured. Many others were dead or injured in the other provinces, school's and buildings collapsed causing extensive damage.Despite all the misfortune, Kashmir was fortunate to receive aid from aid agencies from all around the globe. The kind-hearted Samaritans provided tents, food, medicine and many other items to the survivors of the earthquake. The government are encouraging the people to make their new homes more resistant to earthquakes and they set up better health facilities and rehabilitation centres for the people of Kashmir. The children also went to school to learn how to react when an earthquake happens again, reducing their fear for earthquakes.
As what the government suggested, i think that the citizens of earthquake prone countries should build their houses more resistant to earthquakes. The houses can have more pillars to supported their houses and hence it would not collapse. without buildings collapsing, the scene will not be as chaotic and the death toll will be lower.
